Proctors Needed
We are  in dire need of proctors for the End of Grade tests. If you can give a morning or two it would really help. Perhaps you have neighbors or family members that could help. No skills needed but you do need to sign up as a Volunteer on our website. Go to "For Families" then "Volunteer Information" and complete an online application.  Dates needed: May 28, May 29, June 1, June 2.  Contact Mr. Perlberg  (tperlberg@chatham.k12.nc.us) if you can help.  Thank you.
Talent Show

Northwood Basketball Clinic
Northwood High School is hosting a basketball clinic for boys and girls grades 3-8 July 6-8. Here is a link to their flyer.

Pennies for Patients
NJHS Pennies for patients will be going online this year.  We hope this will  increase our donations. If you go to the site:

 http://nc.sy.llsevent.org/MargaretBPollardMiddleSchool

You will see a a red link to each homeroom - it appears underneath the red donate block and says "See the School Margaret B. Pollard Middle School".  This helps to make online giving easy and gives the homeroom teacher a break from all the pennies.

Secondly, the top three homerooms will receive lunch free seating passes for a week (5 days).

Lastly, we will have two paper penny campaigns which will be going on in the cafeteria during our campaign.  This includes:
1. Vote for the best teacher school picture (I'm planning on trying to find my kindergarten picture with no front teeth).  We will post the pictures in the cafeteria and students will vote by donating a dollar to P for P.  For that dollar we will give the student a paper penny to place under their favorite picture.  The teacher with most votes will receive a prize.

2. Students will have a candy jar full of individually wrapped candies. Donations = students a guess at the amount the jar holds.

3.  Committee members will hold a clean out your console/ spare change on 2 Fridays during our campaign.  This will be outside during car rider pick up.

May 15th Relay for Life Event at Central Carolina Community College
What is Relay?  Relay began in May 1985 when Dr. Gordy Klatt walked and ran for 24 hours around a track in Tacoma, Washington, ultimately raising $27,000 to help the American Cancer Society fight the nation's biggest health concern cancer. A year later, 340 supporters joined the overnight event. Since those first steps, the Relay For Life movement has grown into a worldwide phenomenon, raising nearly $5 billion to fight cancer!  Join us in celebrating 30 years of Relay for Life!!!!!

We are planning on sporting our 80's hair styles fashion and music at Relay this year.  Start planning your outfits!

Please consider making a donation for the baskets! Any amount is so appreciated. The different baskets for each grade are listed below along with the coordinators. Final details on the baskets are still being determined. Some of the proposed basket themes this year will include an Xbox, laptop computer, money tree and iPad mini.
